Alejandro Roca Campana

Mr. Alejandro Roca Campañá, a national of Cuba, joined the WIPO in 1991, as Program Officer, Development Cooperation and External Relations Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean.  In June 1993, he was promoted to Senior Program Officer, then Senior Counsellor in April 1996, and in October 1998 appointed to his present position as Deputy Director of the Cooperation for Development Bureau for Latin America and the Caribbean.  Before joining WIPO, Mr. Roca Campañá served for seven years at the National Office of Inventions, Technical Information and Marks of the Academy of Science of Cuba, as Head of the International Cooperation Division.  Mr. Roca Campañá has a University Degree in Economics with a specialization in International Economic Relations from the State Institute of International Relations of Moscow, associated with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the USSR (1984), a Diploma as a Patent Agent from the Russian Central Institute for Advanced Learning in Intellectual Property of the USSR State Committee of Inventions and Discoveries (1987), and a Post-Graduate Certificate on transfer of technology and licensing from the State Institute Committee for Economic Cooperation, Cuba (1987). Mr. Roca Campañá speaks Spanish, English, French, Russian and Italian.
