Steven J. Berthel

Steve Berthel received his B.S. in Chemistry from The University of Connecticut in 1984, and his Ph.D. in Chemistry from Dartmouth College in 1990. After a 1 year post-doctoral appointment at the Université Catholique de Louvain, in Louvain-la-Neuve (Belgium) he returned to the US and commenced his career with Roche in Nutley NJ as a medicinal chemist. Over the years he has contributed to and led a variety of projects in Inflammation, Oncology and Metabolic Diseases therapy areas. Familiar with structure based drug design, database searching, pipelining tools and as an inventor on nearly a dozen patent applications, he is often asked to provide user specifications for computational chemistry projects.
