Dr. Jochen L. Leidner, M.A. M.Phil. FRGS is Professor of Explainable and Responsible Artificial Intelligence at Coburg University of Applied Sciences in Coburg, Germany, Visiting Professor of Data Analytics at the University of Sheffield and CEO at KnowledgeSpaces.
He holds degrees in Computational Linguistics, English Language and Literature, Computer Science, Informatics, Computer Speech, Text and Internet Technologies from the universities of Erlangen (Germany), Cambridge (UK) and Edinburgh (UK). He won a Royal Society of Edinburgh Enterprise Fellowship in Electronic Markets (2006) and a Royal Academy of Engineering VP grant (2017). Besides roles at SAP and the universities of Zurich, Saarbrücken and Edinburgh, he spent 13 years at Thomson Reuters, where he built up multiple research teams in different countries and held the Director of Research (R&D) position in London. His research interests are at the intersection of NLP, ML and IR, including ethodological, ethical and software engineering questions.
