Alexander Lawson

Sandy Lawson was born 1944 in Dunfermline, Scotland. He is currently the Director of R&D at Elsevier MDL where he is responsible for all newconcepts with respect to content products for the company.
Professor Lawson has a BSc in Chemistry at the University of St. Andrews (1966), a PhD in Organic Chemistry (Physical Organic) at Imperial College, London and an extra-mural professorship at the University of Mainz since the early 1990s. He has twenty years experience as R&D Director, first at the Beilstein Institute, then Beilstein Information Sytems and Elsevier MDL. He was an Irvine Medallist in 1966. Since 1990 he has been a member of the IUPAC Committees for Publications, Databases, Structural Representation. He was the creator of the CrossFire concept (1992-4).
