Michael Hehenberger

IBM Healthcare & Life Sciences, New York, USA

is the global leader for IBM’s Life Sciences Transformation. He is responsible for the development and implementation of new solutions that support the ongoing transformation of Healthcare and Life Sciences. He manages a portfolio of initiatives that leverage capabilities across IBM Research and IBM’s product and service lines. These include high performance computing platforms, service offerings addressing structured and unstructured data collected and accessed externally during drug discovery and clinical development; business consulting offerings addressing the needs of bio-pharmaceutical R&D and Regulatory Compliance; and IT Optimisation and Outsourcing offerings.

During his years in academic and industrial research, Dr Hehenberger has developed an understanding of the deep computing and information needs in various scientific domains. He has worked on data and knowledge management solutions, including the integration and analysis of information related to chemical, biological and clinical (patient) databases. More recently, he was involved in the development of solutions for Clinical Genomics and Biobanking, Pharmacogenomics, Bio-Medical and Molecular Imaging.
