Günter Stiegler

BASF, Germany

Dr. Günther Stiegler currently works for BASF - The Chemical Company - where he leads a team in the BASF Group Information Centre. His responsibility includes R&D information systems and data mining applications for structure-activity relationships in the chemical research. He has 25 years experience in the area of chemical information and computer applications in the chemical and life science industry.

He has a PhD in Physical Chemistry from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg in Germany. He started his career at the IDC in Frankfurt, Germany, where he was responsible for chemical structure search systems in patent databases. He was involved in a research project with the University of Sheffield for new approaches in Markush structure search for patent information.
